.......... Northwinds 4-H Camp: June 14-17

Counties Involved: Cameron, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, Potter

Northwinds 4-H camp is held at the Camp Penuel East facility just outside of Eldred, PA in McKean County. The camp features 2 pools, pond, hiking trails, soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts.  Activities include swimming, canoeing, kayaking, environmental education, crafts, sports and a Juniors In Training program. The camp is open to all children ages 8-13 who live in Cameron, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter counties.

 The NW PA 4-H camps will be based at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Church Camp, located on the banks of the beautiful Allegheny River near Emlenton, Pennsylvania. Campers will participate in traditional camp activities in and around the base camp. The ninety-acre camp features cabins and dormitories for campers; a rustic dining hall; a multiuse outdoor sports court with tennis courts, basketball hoops, and sand volleyball courts; a grass “all-sports” field; an auditorium with stage; a pavilion; a swimming pool; hiking trails; modern restroom facilities; and swimming and canoeing (weather permitting) on the Allegheny River.

4-H Mini-Camp for 8-10 yr. olds (Sunday, June 19 – Monday, June 20) 
4-H Traditional Camp for 9-14 yr. olds (Monday, June 20 – Thursday, June 23)

This year’s 4-H camp will focus around the theme “Take the Lead”  We offer a variety of theme-based educational workshops, recreational workshops, & 3-day build-on workshops – campers get to select their workshops prior to camp.   Workshops include: Win-Win/Leading Not Bossing, Sow Your Garden, Healthy Snacking & Whole Grains, Public Speaking 101, Bullseye: It’s Archery, Line Dancing, Improvisational Theatre, and lots more!

Southwest Regional 4-H Camp is a 3 night resident camp, theme is “Agriculture Adventure”, workshops and activities about agriculture and where our food comes from, also nature, recreation, campfire, etc.   The camp is held at Laurelville Mennonite Church Center, near Mt. Pleasant.

4-H Camp...Harvest 4-Health at Camp Eder, Fairfield PA is an overnight camping experience for 4-H members ages 8-13.  Campers will participate in many fun and active experiences including Crafts, Recreation, Swimming, Campfires, Cookouts, and much more. Workshops topics will focus on our theme "Harvest 4-Health" and will include many hands-on activities to learn about plant and animal science and staying healthy.

June 27-July 1 Counties Involved: Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton, and Schuylkill. Camp Registration Due- May 20. For More Information: Lehigh County 4-H Office, 610 391 9840 or LehighExt@psu.edu    Activities will include arts and crafts, nature and environmental study, swimming, hiking, campfires and lots more!  Special workshops are also a part of the camp experience.  The theme for 2011 is "Bringing in the Harvest."

4-H Camp Shehaqua is located in Hickory Run State Park, (http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/hickoryrun.aspx ) White Haven, Pa. which is in the Pocono region of Eastern Pennsylvania. Each session is a five day resident camp organized and supervised by a team of staff consisting of professional Penn State Extension Educators from those counties, screened 4-H Volunteer Adults and screened and trained 4-H Teens who serve as counselors. A registered nurse and certified lifeguard are on the premises 24/7. Camp activities include a ropes course, shooting sports, swimming, nature workshops, arts and crafts, hiking, recreation, social activities, camp fires and specialized activities which vary week to week utilizing the talents and expertise of the staff and volunteers involved.
