In order to provide an increased level of education for our members new to the livestock judging world we will be offering two different levels of participation, a competitive and beginner track.  Contestants in the competitive track will be required to give three sets of oral reasons. This division is intended for contestants who have given reasons previously in practice or contest situations.  While the competitive track is judging, contestants in the beginner track will partake in an educational instructional session covering various areas of livestock judging.  Items covered will include reasons format, note taking, analyzing structure, performance data analysis, etc.  Afterwards, while the competitive track is preparing and giving reasons, the beginners will be given time to judge each of the classes.  The beginners will not give any reasons; however, a discussion of each class will be conducted in the afternoon to provide them with a more thorough educational experience.  An organization may enter as many teams and individuals in either track, as they desire. Contestants in the competitive track not part of a team may compete as individuals and will be eligible for individual awards.  All beginners will receive participation prizes.

Each competitive team will consist of four members with the top three scores contributing to the total team score.  There will be at least 2 cattle classes, 2 swine classes, and 2 sheep classes.  We may incorporate data on any of the classes, and reasons may be taken on performance classes.  Contestants will be divided into groups and each group will have 15 minutes to judge each class.  There will be no talking during the contest and participants will not be permitted to use judging materials.  A lunch will be served to all contestants at the Ag Arena.

  1. Return the  entry blank by March 5, 2012.  A non-refundable fee of $10.00 per person (including contestants and chaperones) is due with each entry form.
  2. All participants will be pre-registered, so you must provide the names on the  entry blank.  Names can be deleted on the day of the contest, but no contestants may be added.
