4-H Horse Health Requirements

Posted: April 16, 2014

Planning on showing at the York County 4-H Horse Roundup or the PA 4-H Junior Horse Championship Show? You'll need to work with your vet to make sure these health requirements are met.

All horses over six months of age must have proof of a current negative Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) status for all PA 4-H horse shows & events. Tests must be dated within 12 months of show or event. All horses & ponies over six months of age entered in 4-H shows or events must be inoculated for rabies at least one month prior to the event, if this is the animal's initial inoculation. All horses must have a current rabies vaccination & re-vaccination is required annually. Please be sure to have your vet service these requirements well in advance of activity & have proper documentation available at all shows. Your vet’s signature must be on your rabies verification.
