Our Project Saturdays were a huge success in 2013 – they are back for an encore in 2014! We will be offering two Project Saturdays to help you get those projects started and well on the way to being finished.
Background checks for experienced volunteers (already enrolled & approved) will now be done online on a yearly basis. You will receive an email when it’s time to redo your background check from Penn State Office of Human Resources (email@example.com). The subject line will say Penn State Request for information.
All new leaders & volunteers must attend a VIP session (4-H Policy & Procedures) & screening interview as part of the new leader application process.
This training is April 30th from 6:30 – 9 pm and is being offered for 4-H club leaders & volunteers to help you understand and use safe food handling practices when you are doing food fundraisers or serving food at achievement programs, etc. At least one volunteer in each 4-H club should attend this training.
Planning on showing at the York County 4-H Horse Roundup or the PA 4-H Junior Horse Championship Show? You'll need to work with your vet to make sure these health requirements are met.
Be sure your club is collecting dimes in the 16 oz. water bottles (or something similar). Have your club decorate the bottles, being sure to put your club name & 4-H on the label. Have friends, families, co-workers – anyone, drop their dimes into these bottles.
4-H Horse Project Enrollment Forms are due in the 4-H Office by June 1. Please adhere to your leader's deadline as they need time to relay these forms to the 4-H Office. If you are planning to show in performance, Junior Horse or competitive trail, you must complete different forms for each horse you are using for each project.
Are you currently enrolled in a dog, rabbit, pet care or poultry project? Do you enjoy writing? This contest is for you! A 4-H Small Animal Essay Contest will be held in conjunction with 4-H State Achievement Days. This contest is open to all 4-H members currently taking a small animal project.
A 4-H Poster Art Contest will be held in conjunction with 4-H State Achievement Days! This contest is open to all 4-H members. Posters may portray any theme, but must promote 4-H.
Are you into photography or did you take a really cool picture this year? Enter the 4-H Photography Contest held in conjunction with 4-H State Achievement Days! This contest is open to all 4-H members.
4-H State Achievement Days is coming up July 28-30. (Note this is a Mon.-Weds.) at PSU & it’s time to start thinking about going! There are numerous contests you can compete in. Teens are invited to attend this event to compete in contests, participate in community service projects, meet other 4-H teens from across PA & to spend 3 fun days at PSU!
Learning how to talk or give a presentation in front of a crowd is one of the most important life skills you can learn in 4-H. Our second Co. 4-H Speak-Out Contest will be held on May 13, 2014 at the Extension Office.
Attention all children that enjoy camping and the great outdoors! Our 2014 4-H Overnight Camp will be held June 28-July 1 at Camp Eder near Fairfield, in Adams Co.
The dates for the 2014 4-H National Congress are November 28 to December 2, 2014. Applying for this prestigious honor is simple.
Our next 4-H Family Night Out is Monday, April 28, 2014, at Texas Road House, in East York beside the Galleria Mall, 3 - 10 pm. 10% of your order will be donated back to our 4-H program.
The Pearl Kneller Scholarship is in memory of Pearl who was a leader in the Jefferson 4-H Club for many years before her untimely death. The family is offering a $500 scholarship to qualified 4-H members.
Find out if you are up for the challenge at 4-H Survivor Camp! This day camp is for 8-12 yr olds & will be held at the 4-H Center June 16 - 19, 2014.
Thank you to everyone who assisted with the 4-H Auction this year. This includes those who worked in the kitchen, youth auction, records room, bake sale, soda table & Corian table; served as clerks, runners & announcers & assisted with set up & clean up.
All 4-H project leaders & volunteers, please note: For 2014, if you are doing a create a project with your club members, please use the Create A Project form that was designed for 8-13 year olds for ALL members regardless of age.
