4-H and FFA members from around the State were invited to this year’s “It’s Showtime” Livestock camp held at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds. The camp ran from Thursday, June 28 until Saturday, June 30, 2012. With over 65 youth from 8 different counties in attendance and much adult volunteer help, the camp was a success!

Each youth picked a species of interest to focus on throughout camp, either cattle, sheep, swine, or goats. Campers then engaged in farm tours to either Kooser Dairy or Pounds Turkey Farm as well as many educational workshops. Workshops focused on securing buyers for the livestock auction, ultra sounding, nutrition and feeding, reproduction and deliveries, as well as showmanship stations for each species. Amongst the learning opportunities, campers were able to strengthen their team building and critical thinking skills through fun activities at camp. The camp was a learning experience for all and the participants are looking forward to new, fun and exciting adventures for next year!
