Westmoreland County 4-H Travel-All
We are a very active, dedicated, sincere, and fun loving group. Our delegation ranges in size from 10 to 15 with 3 to 4 adults. We are located in southwestern Pennsylvania, 35 miles southeast of the city of Pittsburgh. Most of our members live in rural areas, small towns, and some on farms.Activities
Each year we travel or host another county from another state for 8 to 10 days during the summer. Our members learn from our visitors and in return we learn from them. The group travels not as tourists but as fact finding individuals, ready and willing to take an active part in a new way of life with their exchange families.Meetings
Meetings are held at the Westmoreland County Cooperative Extension Office in Greensburg on the 4th Wednesday of the month (January through October) at 7:00 p.m. In November and December we meet on the third Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.Community Service Projects
We do community service work with the elderly and our veterans. We collect personal care items for the Aspinwall VA Hospital in Pittsburgh; travel to Aspinwall to do programs for the vets; make favors for meals on wheels; hold a Red Cross Blood Drive; hold a Christmas party and perform skits for the elderly at Emeritis of Latrobe; visit the vets on Veteran Day at Emeritis, spend time and talk to them and share stories and treats.Purpose
