Susquehanna County 4-Her Bring Homes a 1st place in the State 4-H Shotgun Competition

Susquehanna County 4-H'er Competed at State Achievement Days at Penn State. Here are the results!

Zach VanWinkle of the Arrows and Clays 4-H Club placed first in the Senior Division of the Shotgun Contest at the Pennsylvania State 4-H Achievement Days held in August at the Shenecoy Sportsmen Club in McConnellstown, Pa .  VanWinkle, 16, Montrose is the son of Rip and Bette VanWinkle and is a sophomore at Elk Lake Jr./Sr. High School.  Due to VanWinkle’s prestigious win he will be eligible to compete in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Shotgun Competition in Grand Island, Nebraska which will be held in June 2013.

Other Susquehanna County 4-H members that competed in the Shotgun Contest included: Jordan Noldy, Hop Bottom; McCade Callaway, Montrose; and Courtney Thorne, Brackney.  Courtney finished eighth in the Shotgun Junior Division. 
4-H members were trained under the supervision of Rip VanWinkle, NRA/4-H Certified Shooting Sports Instructor.  Congratulations to all members who participated!      

 Six Dairy Judgers Compete at State Level
Six members of the Susquehanna County  4-H Dairy Judging Team recently competed at the Pennsylvania State 4-H Achievement Days held in August.  Members of the senior team included: Evan Castrogiovanni, Montrose; Cassie Clark, Springville; Sabrina Clark, Springville; and Trevor Tompkins, Montrose.  The team finished third in the state and Trevor finished ninth individually.  Kennidy Finch, Springville and Emily Supancik, New Milford competed individually in the Dairy Judging Contest Junior Division.  Kennidy finished 2nd overall and Emily placed 1st in reasons.  The 4-H Dairy Judging Team is coached by 4-H leaders Owen and Cathy Bewley.  Congratulations to these members and leaders on a successful dairy judging season!
Two Susquehanna County 4-Hers reach State Level in 4-H Fashion Revue
Two Susquehanna County 4-H Clothing and Textile members advanced from the Northeast Regional Fashion Review to the State 4-H Fashion Review held recently at the Pennsylvania State 4-H Achievement Days at University Park.  Olivia Everitt, Brackney is a member of the Clovers 4-H Sew Club and Theresa Staats, Montrose of the East Bridgewater 4-H Club both qualified with their 2012 4-H sewing projects.  Congratulation to these two young ladies on this outstanding accomplishment!
