Become a Volunteer
Individuals who desire to become a volunteer for Extension youth programs will need to complete an application form, participate in the interview process, have references checked, and obtain the Pennsylvania publicly available background checks prior to volunteering for the 4-H program.
The Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law and Penn State policy require the following background clearances:
1. Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
2. Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance3. Disclosure Statement Application for Volunteers or the Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check if the individual has NOT
been a PA resident continuously for the past ten years.
Per Pennsylvania Law, these clearances must be obtained every sixty (60) months
to maintain your approved volunteer status with Penn State Extension 4-H youth programs.
