Twenty youth from Somerset County were among more than 600 4-H members from across Pennsylvania who took part in the annual 4-H State Achievement Days at Penn State's University Park campus in July. The theme this year was based on super heroes: With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility!

Local youth were among 88 4-H'ers from 38 counties across the state who met in Harrisburg recently for the annual Pennsylvania 4-H Capital Days program.
The contests, held May 13th, included 4-H Public Speaking and Presentation Contests as well as a Poster, Photography and Small Animal Essay Contest. William Kincaid was the night's Master of Ceremony and Kate Barron served as the Mistress of Ceremony. Alice Ireland and Larry Hay were the presentation judges for the evening, and Deb Orendorf served as the public speaking judge.
The Somerset 4-H held their annual officer training at the Somerset Jr. High School on April 15.
Starting in May, Echo Kincaid will be working with the Somerset County Extension staff as a 4-H summer assistant.
The Somerset County Dairy Field Day was held on May 3at Grazing Valley Farm (Kaufman Family) in Friedens, PA. Thirty-nine 4-H'ers of all ages, from across the county were in participation to better their knowledge and gain more skills on their dairy projects and in the dairy industry.

The 54th annual PA State 4-H Horse Show was held October 25-27 at the PA Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

A delegation of four 4-H'ers from Pennsylvania enjoyed several days of fun and learning during the 59th annual National 4-H Dairy Conference on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison, September 29-October 2, 2013. The educational program attracted approximately 200 youth and adult delegates from across the U.S.A. and Canada.
