4-H Camp Shehaqua
Camp Shehaqua is part of the beautiful Hickory Run State Park in White Haven, Pennsylvania. 4-H programs from all over eastern Pennsylvania use the facility throughout the summer. The Northampton County camp week will be shared with youth from Carbon, Lehigh, and Schuylkill Counties.
Shehaqua consists of five cabin areas, each with large lodge and bath facilities. Each cabin sleeps 2-4 people. Campers of similar age will be housed together in the cabin areas. Counselors will be housed in cabins next to campers in the same cabin area. A central dining hall with a large fireplace, an arts and crafts lodge, a nature lodge, a recreation hall, a swimming pool, and acres of hiking trails are also available for camp use.
A camp director, Extension staff and screened adult volunteer chaperones will be present at all times. Trained counselors will be present in every cabin area and will supervise all activities.
Health forms will be mailed to all camp families to complete and return before camp. Administration of medication forms will be mailed to you as well, once you are registered to attend camp. The medication form will accompany the informational packet which you will receive in early June.
Cover lodging, meals, craft supplies, themed camp t-shirt and activities. Partial scholarships are available -- contact the 4-H Office for information.
Families are responsible for arranging transportation to and from camp. Carpooling among campers is suggested. Maximum travel time from Northampton County to White Haven is approximately 2 hours.
Camp group photos are available, but must be pre-ordered. We will no longer be providing the photo CD’s for sale as we’ve done in the past. New this year is our online photo order through Photobucket. We will provide each camp family with a password and weblink which will enable you to go on and order photos of your child(ren) for yourself during camp. More information will follow in your registration packet
Activities will include arts and crafts, nature and environmental study, swimming, hiking, ropes course, sports, campfires, dance competition and lots more! Special themed workshops are also a part of the camp experience.
