4-H, Good for Kids and Community
Posted: November 19, 2012
4-H youth make healthy life-choices. Young people in 4-H are 3.4 times more likely to delay sexual activity, have significantly lower drug, alcohol and cigarette use than their peers and are 2.3 times more likely to exercise and be physically active.
4-H provides an opportunity for family involvement. By design, 4-H encourages parents to participate in activities. Parents can choose a level of commitment that fits, from project leader to activity helper. By doing so, parents often develop or strengthen a rapport with their child and other youth involved in 4-H.
