Sarah Bassett, a Backwoodsmen 4-H Club Member, and Northumberland County Council President, has been elected to the 2011-2012 Pennsylvania State 4-H Council and was selected as President of the Council by her teammates.  During her time at State Achievement Days, Sarah was part of the Leadership Tract where she developed skills in areas such as Parliamentary Procedure, Team Work, and Communications.

During the process of election onto the State Council, Sarah had to make a one-minute presentation to the entire State Delegation on Tuesday evening.  While county delegates from across the state voted for State Council Members, Sarah and the rest of the State Council team were interviewed by a panel consisting of advisors of State Council, County Educators, Past Council Members and Christy Bartley, 4-H State Program Leader.  Later in the evening, the new members of State Council were directed in an officer selection period where Extension Staff helped guide the Council to SELECT their own officers.  Sarah was named President of the Council by her teammates.  Finally, on Thursday morning, the State Council were officially inducted into their positions and Sarah was given her first duty as President to relieve out-going president Logan Hall of his duties and to dismiss State Achievement Days Delegates.

State Council Members completed their first training weekend from August 26-28 at the Hartman Center in Milroy.

Northumberland County is VERY proud of Sarah and her accomplishments!  When you see Sarah, please congratulate her on her position.  If you would like for Sarah to visit your club to lead a training or talk about opportunities in the 4-H Program, please contact her via e-mail by (click here) and she will try to work you into her schedule!
