FROST Weather Observers Project
FROST Weather Observers Project
Grade level: 3rd and up Description:
A national and statewide project for youth and adult. Organized and run by CoCoRaHS with the help of county coordinators, this project is a hands-on way to interest students in weather observation and involve those who are already interested.
Collection and reporting of data involving precipitation measurements involve students in an ongoing, real time study of our area weather and how it compares to the rest of the state and country. This makes an excellent graduation project and we will gladly serve as mentors.
Recommended length of program: On going through out school year and may be picked up again by a new or same group in the following school year.
Equipment needed: Heavy duty rain gauge, available through the extension office. Internet access preferable, but not necessary.
Materials provided: Training guidance, on site training if needed, certificates.
Cost: One time charge of $30 for heavy duty rain gauge available from the extension office.
Contact: Linda Antonacio-Hoade and Andrew Frankenfield, county coordinators for 5 surrounding counties
