For teens interested animals and possibly a career in veterinary medicine, this 5 week course gives them a great glimpse into the industry. Dr. Hartz from the Trappe Animal Center graciously hosted the class and different veterinarians assisted in the class.

Over the 5 weeks, the 16 youth learned about the path to being a veterinarian or a veterinary technician, got a tour of the whole clinic, learned how basic checkups are done and got some practice on a live animal, were introduced to exotic animals, studied x-rays for case studies and observed a surgery!

Thanks to Dr. Hartz this course is offered every year and it fills quickly! If you are interested in participating next year, please contact the 4-H office!
