How to join?
Mercer County offers numerous project areas and has over 30 active 4-H clubs. Contact the Mercer County Extension Office at 724-662-3141 or MercerExt@psu.edu with your name, phone number, and interest area. You will then be matched with a club leader who will contact you about joining their club.
When do I join?
You may join a 4-H club at anytime, however a member must be enrolled by June 1 of the current year to be eligible to participate in the Mercer County 4-H Roundup held in August. The type of project will also determine when to join, animal projects require more time to complete and get ready for Roundup.
How often do clubs meet?
Each club establishes their meeting schedules. Some clubs meet once or twice a month, or some meet only during the summer. Often the meeting schedule depends on the members and parents schedules and the type of project. However, each club must have at least 6 meetings in a year and members must attend at least 3 business meetings.
Where do clubs meet?
Each club has their own meeting location. Some clubs meet at the leader or members' homes, other clubs meet at local granges, the 4-H park, or township buildings. Mercer County has over 30 active 4-H clubs that meet throughout the county.
