Present and former 4-H members in Pennsylvania who are currently attending Penn State University may be eligible for the 2015 Baker 4-H Scholarship.
This club is for youth between the ages of 13 and 18 who are interested in improving leadership skills and interacting with teens from the Extension District 3 (Cameron, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, and Potter Counties).
More than 140 young people from McKean, Potter, Elk/Cameron, Jefferson, and Clearfield Counties participated in the District VIII 4-H Horse Show at the McKean County fairgrounds in Smethport, PA on August 23-24, 2014. Clay Alter was the Western Judge and Richard Walters was the English Judge for this two-day show.
Thanks to a generous gift from the Shell Corporation, the Power of Science was experienced by more than 400 youth in McKean County this summer. Workshops at Northwinds 4-H Camp, day camps, and summer reading programs featured science activities from A (aerospace) to Z (zoology).
Thanks to a generous gift from Seneca Resources, three Robotics clubs were held during the 2014 school year. One met in Smethport and two met in Kane. With the help of screened adult volunteers, this program is available for any group of young people in McKean County.
4-H members participated in the planting of trees at the Donald J. Comes Natural Resources Learning Center in celebrating of Arbor Day 2014.

Sixty area youth traveled to Krislund Camp & Conference Center in Madisonburg (Centre County) to participate in 4-H Teen Retreat which was held March 23 - 25.
In conjunction with PA 4-H Week, McKean County 4-H clubs were encouraged to promote 4-H by putting a window display in their community
