Three members of the McKean Teen Leadership Club were awarded jackets at the May meeting of the 4-H Development Committee for their participation in meetings, training, and leadership opportunities throughout the 2015-2016 program year.
The McKean County 4-H Public Speaking and Presentation Contest was held at the Extension Office in Smethport.
The McKean County 4-H Rough Riders, which includes the Wranglers, Lucky Horseshoes, and Krazy Kritters 4-H horse clubs, held an equine clinic on the fairgrounds Saturday, April 30. Lew Trumble worked with beginners and advanced riders on identifying problem areas to improve their riding.
Six youth from McKean, Potter, Jefferson, Elk, and Cameron County attended 4-H Capital Days in Harrisburg, April 16-18.
On March 13, 30 animal science club members attended Quality Animal Management Training at Hamlin Memorial Library in Smethport.
48 members, leaders, and guests attended the first equine countywide meeting of the year, which included a program on making healthy food and drink choices as well as Quality Animal Management training.
4-H Robotics Clubs meet monthly after school in two locations - on the third Monday of the month in Smethport and on the third Friday of the month in Kane. These groups are open to all boys and girls aged 6-18.
PA 4-H is now a certifying organization to receive acknowledgement from the President of the United States for dedication of volunteer service.
