The well-balanced program provides a solid foundation for successful 4-H youth development work. A thing worth doing is worth planning for. It is a fact, people are more inclined to participate in a program if they have had a part in determining that program. This is the essence of democracy and 4-H has a constant challenge to involve memebers and parents in the planning process. Time spent to explore ideas, consider possibilities, and make decisions will help to enrich the satisfaction of the leaders working with young people because the program will be more effective.
The first step in planning is establishing goals. Create a list of goals for the upcoming year and be sure to include the essential elements.Belonging

Ask club members and parents what they would like to do as a club, and recruit volunteers to help out with different projects or events. Choose projects that will allow club members to learn and have fun at the same time. 4-H Youth Development uses the Experimental Learning Model to guide teaching practices. The Experimental Learning Model includes "Do" the action part of the project, "Process" what you have learned, and "Apply" this knowledge to other situations or experiences.At the beginning of each year it is important to plan out what the club would like to accomplish.
