Local 4-H’ers Compete At 4-H Regional Fashion Revue

Nine Lackawanna County 4-H textile science members recently competed in the regional 4-H fashion revue in Mehoopany.

Those members were:

  • Cat Colombo, Dalton;
  • Evelyn Conroy, Factoryville;
  • Ava Davis, Ava Ramsey, and Mashka Sutton, South Abington Township;
  • Meghan Graham, Lara Kane, and Brooke Wilcoxen, Clarks Summit;
  • Maria Parola, Moscow.

Fifty-two members from Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Bradford, Sullivan, Tioga and Wyoming Counties were judged with their garments in appearance, fit, design, and fashion and construction techniques. In addition, participants attended workshops on modeling, makeup, and woven wall hangings.

The day concluded with a fashion show after which honor awards were given. Evelyn Conroy was named winner in the junior wearable year 1 division. In addition, Cat Colombo was named winner in the senior wearable division.

As a senior winner, Cat represented the region at the state fashion revue on the main campus of Penn State University on July 26. She competed against 4-H’ers from across the state for the top 12 places.

The 4-H textile science program is sponsored by Penn State Extension. It teaches youth ages eight to eighteen clothing construction skills as well as increases their self-esteem, poise and confidence.
