Winners At District Horse Show Qualify For State Event

Fourteen Indiana County 4-H horse club members qualified for 26 classes in the State 4-H Horse Show as a result of high placings at the District 10 4-H Horse Show held in August in Westmoreland County. Over 200 members from five counties competed for a chance to attend the state show.

Members who won first place qualifying awards from the county include Braedon Sheesley, Intermediate Western Grooming and Showmanship; Khylee Maglione, Junior Western Grooming and Showmanship, Junior Western Horsemanship and Junior Western Pleasure Horses; Taylor Sheesley, Junior Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Horse, Junior Open Trail Horse and Junior Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat; Jillian Bowman, Beginner Trail; Haley Brooks, Junior Saddle Seat Equitation and Trotting Saddle Seat Pleasure; Cloe Bowser, Draft Horse Driving; Paige Almes, Junior Low Equitation Over Fences, Hunter Hack Horses and Junior Classic Hunter Under Saddle Horses; Lily Shilling, Beginner English Equitation, and Alexis Latson, Hunter Hack Ponies.

Second place qualifiers were Paige Almes, Junior Miniature Horse Driving; Emily Vojtek, Senior Breed Type Hunter Under Saddle Horses; Andrew Adams, Junior Miniature Horse in Hand Trail; Abigail Bruner, Obstacle Trail Minimum Assistance; Alyxandra Cornetto, Junior Saddle Seat Equitation and Trotting Saddle Seat Pleasure; Rachel Sproat, Senior Low Equitation Over Fences; Alexis Latson, Working Hunter Ponies, Senior Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat and Hunter Under Saddle Ponies.

Several other members from the county also placed well in their classes. Winners in English classes were Emily Vojtek, Senior English Grooming and Showmanship, fourth; Taylor Sheesley, Junior English Grooming and Showmanship, fifth; Lily Shilling, Junior English Grooming and Showmanship, eighth; Taylor Lecce, Senior Equitation Over Fences, fourth, Working Hunter Ponies, third, Hunter Hack Ponies, third and Hunter Under Saddle Ponies, third, and Rachel Sproat, Low Working Hunter Horses, sixth, Hunter Hack Horses, seventh and Senior Classic Hunter under Saddle Horses, third.

Western class awards included Andrew Adams, Intermediate Western Grooming and Showmanship, eighth; Evan Sheesley, Junior Western Grooming and Showmanship, eighth; Morgan Daugherty, Junior Western Horsemanship, third and Junior Western Pleasure Horses, fifth, and Braedon Sheesley, Senior Western Pleasure Horses, sixth.

Our game class winner was Emilia Bracken, who placed eighth in Junior Raised Box Keyhole Horses and seventh in Junior Cutback Horses.

In Beginner classes, placings included Emma Kimmel, Beginner Western Horsemanship, seventh; Jillian Bowman, Beginner Western Pleasure, third; Kylen Sawtelle, Beginner English Equitation, third and Beginner English Pleasure, fourth, and Elizabeth Bruner, Beginner English Equitation, sixth.

Winners in the driving division included Andrew Adams, Junior Miniature Horse Driving, third; Danielle Adams, Junior Miniature Horse Driving, fourth; Andrew Kobak, Junior Miniature Horse Driving, fifth, and Elizabeth Bruner, Pleasure Pony Driving, fourth. Trail winners included Danielle Adams, Junior Miniature Horse In Hand Trail, fourth; Emily Vojtek, Senior Open Trail Horses, seventh, and Khylee Maglione, Junior Open Trail Horses, fourth. Abigail Bruner placed third in Walk Trot Equitation, Minimum Assistance.

Other participants in the show were Victoria Schultz and Erin Pierce.

4-H volunteers serving on the show committee included Pam Nealer, Marge Bezilla, Beth Kobak, Donna Meyer and Angela Adams.
