4-H Pig Club Holds 70th Annual Show and Sale

Isaiah Yoder (right) exhibited the 2012 Franklin County Grand Champion 4-H Market Hog which was purchased by YB Welding for $900.00 or $3.57 a pound. Representing YB Welding is Eric Yoder (left).
The Grand Champion pig, weighing 252 lbs. was shown by Isaiah Yoder, Chambersburg and was purchased by YB Welding Inc. for $900.00 or $3.57 a pound. The Reserve Champion shown by Austin Heck of Chambersburg, weighing in at 242 lbs. was purchased by McCleary Oil Inc. for $1,700.00.
In the pen-of-two class champion honors went to Austin Yeager, Greencastle, and was purchased by Four Season’s Crop Care for $1,000.00. Reserve Champion honors went to Samuel Wingert, Mercersburg and was purchased by F&M Trust, CV Wenger Plumbing & Heating and RW Brechbill & Sons Trucking for $1,400.00.
In the Junior Fitting and Showing class Esdon Yeager, was declared Grand Champion while Katarina Fisher was granted Reserve Champion honors.
In the Senior division Samuel Wingert was declared Grand Champion while Austin Heck was declared Reserve Champion.
The show was judged by John Ebersole from Duncannon, Pennsylvania. Roundup trophies were sponsored by AgChoice Farm Credit of Chambersburg while ribbons and rosettes were provided by the Franklin County 4-H Pig Club.
4-H is the youth program of Penn State Extension. This club and all 4-H programs are available to youth regardless of race, color, national origin or handicap.
