The 4-H teams competed in a quiz show format and tested on their knowledge about farm safety and health hazards and recommended practices. Teams and coaches have access to a range of resources such as the National Safe Tractor & Machinery Operation Program Task Sheets and Penn State Farm Safety Fact Sheets to prepare for the competition. Not only do the team members learn about farm safety and health but they also increase their leadership and public speaking skills. One of the intended outcomes is that they will learn to promote agricultural safety and health through their organizations and in their own farm operations.

The following 4-H teams will advance to the State Finals at the 2016 PA Farm Show:

  • Cumberland County 4-H
  • Perry County 4-H
  • Union County 4-H Teams A and B.

The top four scoring teams will compete during the 4-H Farm Safety and Health Quiz Bowl Finals at the 2016 Pennsylvania Farm Show. Each team member received a first aid kit provided by the Pennsylvania Worker Protection Standard Program and the club received a certificate and a monetary prize.
