4-H Opportunities in Chester County
Beyond 4-H Club Activities
4-H Advisory Committee:For 4-Hers at least 15 years old. One teen is chosen each year as representative to this 4-H advisory committee. 5 meetings/year.
4-H Ambassadors:
4-Hers 15-18. Teens receive training in public speaking, communication and social skills at the State Ambassador conference. County Ambassadors sponsor social events, promote the 4-H program and do various community service activities. Meets at the State Ambassador Conference in June at Penn State.
Cloverline:
All 4-Hers. A newsletter for 4-H and the general public; can submit articles. 6 issues/year.
Tractor Safety Course:Designed for youth ages 14-16. 4-Hers demonstrate their ability to safely maneuver equipment through and around objects with accuracy and efficiency. Course is held in the Spring.
4-H Camp Shehaqua:Campers ages 8-13;Teens ages 14-19 serve as counselors. 4-Hers participate in a 5-day camp program in the Poconos during the summer.
Youth Tech Team:Teens ages 13-18. County-wide group of teens interested in technology.
Window Display Contest:All 4-H Clubs. Clubs increase awareness of 4-H in the community by designing displays to be exhibited in public windows. Held during Pennsylvania and National 4-H weeks. March and October.
County 4-H Fashion Revue:4-H Clothing & Textile Members. 4-Hers enrolled in clothing and textiles projects bring and model their finished product for judges and the the public. Held in June.
