Having fun in 4-H

Posted: January 26, 2016

Oxford 4-H'ers appreciate their club and leaders.

We do lot's of cool, interesting and fun stuff in 4-H. Our teachers are fun, nice and talented. We learned to prepare yummy, nutritious meals and snacks in cooking class and then we go home and prepare them for our family. Some favorites were pancakes, ham sandwiches and chicken caesar wraps. We also learned how to read nutrition labels so we can make healthy choices when we are helping with the grocery shopping. In gardening we make cool stuff with plants. This past holiday season we made door swags, and table arrangements. The library smelled so good that night. In the spring and summer we planted and harvested vegetables and donated them to local community services to distribute. We also attend textile club where we are learning to sew pajamas and other nice things. One of our favorite sewing projects was the corn bag. You can heat it up and place it on a sore body part to help it feel better. We had fun at the 4-H fair in the summer. We got to see animals and some of our projects won ribbons. The fair let us see all the things the other 4-H-ers around our area are doing. It also had great hot dogs and the best ice cream. We are excited to begin a new year of learning and fun!
