2012 4-H Summer Specials
4-H Learning about Horses
Pony Partners
- 4-H Pony Partners is an introduction to equine science for students who have had no prior experience with horses or large animals. Students will learn safety, grooming techniques, non-verbal communication, be able to recognize horse emotions, horse nutrition, and distinguish different breeds and colors. Students will also have opportunities for hands on grooming and leading with miniature horses and ponies.
- Working with horses builds
confidence, communication, and
problem solving. Students will also
learn behavioral skills as they
recognize that horses respond
directly to their behavior and
body language. The ability to
interact safely with an animal larger than you, for a child, builds great self-assurance, trust, and is a lot of fun!
