Get to Know WCU Intern Tim Kane
My Name is Tim Kane. I was born and raised in Summit, New Jersey. I am a junior Social Work major at West Chester University. I am interning for the semester at Penn State Extension Chester County and will be working with 4-H CCN for the summer as well. I have really enjoyed working with 4-H CCN for the past month. So far I have worked with programs at Nottingham Elementary School in Oxford and at the Phoenixville Civic Center. I have taught Tai Chi and basketball programs to promote health and fitness with the 4H Jaya Program. I have also been doing cooking and nutritional lessons with kids in Phoenixville. I would like to visit multiple sites throughout the semester and help where I can. I simply want to help out 4-H CCN as much as I possibly can. When I was 15-years-old I did a mission trip to Iztapalapa, Mexico. On this trip I saw a vast amount of poverty and problems that really opened my eyes. I then went on the same trip that following year and it was then that I fully realized that there are so many more people in the world that need help, than people that don't need help. Since then I have worked with Interfaith Housing and the homeless in nearby areas of my hometown in New Jersey. Ever since going to Mexico I found my passion in helping people and want to help as many people as I possibly can. I really hope that I am able to make a career out of my passion.
