The National Pork Board is excited to announce the transition of the Youth Pork Quality Assurance Plus (YPQA) to the new Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA).
Two Centre County Residents Recognized
March 23, 2017
The 4-H State Volunteer and Development Team recently recognized two Centre County residents at the 2017 Pennsylvania 4-H Leader Forum. Anna “Mickey” Peters was recognized as the 2014 National 4-H Hall of Fame Winner and Dr. Alan Snider was recognized as the 2015 National 4-H Hall of Fame Winner.

Stop the Invasion: Unwanted Plants, Bugs and Other Pests

Penn State Extension and Pennsylvania 4-H, with funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, created Stop the Invasion: Unwanted Plants, Bugs and Other Pests, a hands-on curriculum to address the threat of invasive species.
Youth in the Science Track of the 2017 Wildlife and Forestry Field Day learned to apply wildlife and forestry knowledge in on-site skills sessions. A sign language interpreter (center) assisted in explaining tree measuring technique.
Members Learn, Explore and Compete at 4-H Wildlife and Forestry Field Day

The 2017 4-H Wildlife and Forestry Field Day, held at Rock Springs, PA, was another “wild” success! 4-H youth and adults from across the state explored the wildlife and forestry sciences. The event featured an Exploratory Track for younger 4-H youth and a Science Track for teens. The theme for the Exploratory Track presented tools and methods for wildlife and forestry research, while the Science Track focused on applying research knowledge to managing forests and wildlife.
