What is a project?
There are over 100 projects for members to choose from. Projects are divided in the following areas:
- Animal Sciences - includes farm animals, pets, and veterinary science
- Citizenship and Civil Education - community and citizenship opportunities
- Communications and Expressive Arts - arts and crafts, theater arts, and photography
- Environmental Education and Earth Science - horticulture (gardening), entomology (bugs), wildlife, water conservation
- Family and Consumer Sciences - textile science (sewing, crocheting, knitting,etc), foods and nutrition (baking, microwave cooking, outdoor cooking, etc.), and babysitting
- Healthy Lifestyles - health, orienteering, outdoor adventures, bicycling, fishing
- Science and Technology - computers, small engines, rocketry, electricity, aerospace, woodworking, and energy
Projects are completed by fulfilling the fair requirements developed for each project and completing the project book. The required items are then displayed at our yearly 4-H Fair in August and are judged against a set of standards for ribbon placements.
