About Us
Adams County 4-H started in the 1920's. At that time, 4-H was all about breeding pigs and clothing clubs, along with starting a beef club. Adams County 4-H has had a monthly newsletter since the 1930's!
The 1940's posed difficult for the 4-H program due to infantile paralysis, a 5-week travel ban, tire and gasoline rationing, and war.
4-H was for youth ages 10-18 in the 1950's. The age requirement did not change to include 8 and 9 years olds until the 1970's.
The embryology program began in the 1980's and is our most successful program in the county working with several school district teachers to teach pupils about life development.
